We are pleased to announce the official launch of Readmont 2015, Piedmont’s “one city, one book” project, now in its fifth year! All Piedmonters are encouraged to read The Smartest Kids in the World: and How They Got That Way by Amanda Ripley. In this work of journalistic reporting, Ripley examines the high school education experience in Finland, South Korea, Poland and the U.S. through the eyes of American exchange students. It offers a compelling look at educational reform and should appeal to high school students, staff, as well as the parent community.
A limited number of copies will be available for checkout at each school library. Also, A Great Good Place for Books in Montclair is offering a 20% discount on this title. Stay tuned for book discussion dates in 2015! We hope this common reading experience will forge positive connections among students, staff, parents and community members as well as encourage reading as a medium of collaboration.
